NO AGENT INVOLVED

Private and family property transfers

Not every transfer involves a sale through a real estate agent. We help families and private parties transfer property between themselves, after a death, after a separation or when a name changes, and we prepare and lodge the Landgate paperwork so it is done correctly.

Transfers we handle

  • Family transfers of all or part of a property between family members

  • Private sales, where the buyer and seller have agreed a sale without an agent

  • Deceased estates, transferring property to beneficiaries or settling a sale by the executor

  • Applications by survivorship, registering the surviving joint owner after a joint owner dies

  • Transfers that follow Family Court orders after a separation

  • Change of name on a certificate of title

  • Transfers under a registered power of attorney

A sensitive time

Many of these transfers happen after a loss or a separation. We take the time to explain what is needed, keep the paperwork as simple as possible, and work with your lawyer or executor where one is involved.

Survivorship applications

When a joint owner dies, ownership passes to the surviving joint owner, but the title is not updated until an application is lodged with Landgate. The application generally needs evidence of the death, usually the death certificate, a statutory declaration and verification of the applicant’s identity. We prepare the application, verify identity and lodge it for you.

Common questions
